Katara to host Chinese Cultural Festival tomorrow

DOHA: Katara launches the Chinese Cultural Festival tomorrow, featuring traditional dragon and lion dances, concerts, acrobatics shows and an art exhibition.
The three-day festival is being organised in collaboration with the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the Chinese Embassy. It opens at 8pm with an orchestra performance at Katara Drama Theatre.
Prior to the opening, people can visit an art exhibition from 10am in Building 16. There are also a range of outdoor activities from 5pm, including traditional dances such as the famous lion and dragon dances, tea ceremony and media expo.
Katara General Manager, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, expressed happiness to host the festival that reflects Chinese culture and civilisation that has inspired cultures around the world.
He said the event comes with the role Katara plays in promoting convergence of cultures and communication between peoples.
He said Katara has been organising cultural weeks for many Arab and foreign countries, opening its doors to different cultures of the world, and is now hosting one of the oldest cultures and civilisations in the world.
“We wish that the audience and visitors will find joy and contentment in the coming days, as culture is the strongest link connecting people to each other, and makes them interact with confidence and optimism,” he added.
The exhibition is open until Saturday from 10am to 10pm.
Outdoor activities will be held opposite Building 16 from 5pm to 10pm, while visitors can watch acrobatic shows and the Chengdu group from 8pm to 10pm at Drama Theatre.
