PESHAWAR: At least one policeman was killed and four others, including a Station House Officer, were wounded in separate incidents of violence in Peshawar yesterday, DawnNews reported.
According to police, unknown motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire on two policemen deputed at a checkpost on Canal Road in University Town of the provincial capital city.
The police sources added that the attackers fled from the scene after the incident, leaving behind their motorcycle.
The victims were shifted to the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) where one of the wounded policeman succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
A search operation was underway in the area to find the assailants.
In another incident, the Station House Officer of Bhana Mari police station and two of his bodyguards were injured when unknown gunmen opened fire on their vehicle.
According to police, unidentified assailants opened firing on the vehicle of Station House Officer Hameed Khan, when he was on the way to office from home in the limit of Paharipura police station.
On the other hand, the wounded persons from the incident were taken to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital.
According to the hospital administration, the Station House Officer was shot in the chest.
