Sydney: Brazilian Bobo netted a double as Sydney FC stretched their unbeaten A-League run to 14 games with a 3-2 win over Central Coast Mariners on Sunday.

Substitute David Carney headed in the winner with 13 minutes left after the Mariners came from two goals down and became the first team this season to score twice against Sydney.

The win maintained Sydney's seven-point gap at the top of the standings over Melbourne Victory.

Victory registered their fifth consecutive win with a 2-0 win over Adelaide United in Adelaide on Saturday.

Socceroos midfielder James Troisi starred for Melbourne with a goal and an assist for Albanian striker Besart Berisha.

The defeat left defending champions Adelaide at the foot of the table with just seven points from 14 games.

Ivan Franjic's dipping volley in the 19th minute proved the winner for third-placed Melbourne City over a 10-man Western Sydney in Melbourne on Friday.

Wanderers lost Spanish defender Artiz Borda after he elbowed the head of City's star Uruguyan striker Bruno Fornaroli in the first half.

It was interim coach Michael Valkanis' first game in charge of City after Dutchman John Van't Schip quit to return home to look after his seriously ill father.

Denmark's Morten Nordstrand scored the winner in a 3-2 upset for the Newcastle Jets by Brisbane Roar on Saturday.

The lead changed three times and it appeared a draw was looming after an 82nd-minute penalty from striker Jamie Maclaren pulled Brisbane level.

But Nordstrand popped up two minutes later to find the net from close range and propel the Jets to sixth, above the Wanderers.

Fifth-placed Perth Glory ended their six-game winless run, beating a 10-man Wellington Phoenix 2-1 at home on Thursday.

Glory had not won at home since a 3-1 win over Adelaide United on November 18 but fought back from behind to score goals through captain Rostyn Griffiths and Adam Taggart.

Wellington were reduced to 10 men when Roy Krishna was handed a straight red card.
