Doha: More than 100  pirated personal computer software, CDs and other electronic devices were recently seized from outlets that sell computer accessories.

In three raids by the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights at the Ministry of Justice, pirated CDs, hardware disks and a laptop that contained unlicensed version of Windows and Microsoft Office were impounded, the Centre said in a statement on its website.

The raids were held on January 29.

Some 69 pirated Microsoft CDs were seized from the first shop, while 15 other CDs and a hard disk that had multiple pirated software installed on it were seized from the second outlet.

Twenty-one CDs were seized along with a laptop from the third shop. It was not clear from the report weather any arrests were made.

The three cases have been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further probe, the report said.
