Dukhan Highway second phase nearing completion

DOHA: Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has completed almost 80 percent of Dukhan Highway Phase II project. 
The project is scheduled for completion by the third quarter of this year. It involves design and construction of roads, multi-level interchanges, camel crossings and underground power stations.
About 90 percent work on intersections, weighing stations and camel crossings have been completed. Work on 10 underground power stations is also in the final stage. 
Construction of two intersection tunnels are also fast progressing, an Arabic daily said yesterday. 
The highway will be with the mainline road starting from the west side of the Wajbah Interchange and ending one kilometre east of the town of Shahaniya.
The project comprises the development of 15km of eight-lane (four lanes in each direction) dual carriageway with hard shoulders and grade-separated interchanges to replace the two-lane dual carriageway.
