COTABATO CITY: Unidentified motorcycle-riding men blasted a fragmentation grenade at the house here of a municipal treasurer in Maguindanao, injuring a Moro couple, about 10 hours after four powerful explosions rocked Shariff Aguak town in the province.
Investigators are still clueless on the culprit behind the bombing of the house of Norodin Samaon, treasurer of Maguindanao’s Talitay town, and the motive for the attack.
4 more bodies found at landslide site
KANANGA, Leyte: The bodies of four labourers were dug up yesterday morning at the landslide site in Energy Development Corp.’s Upper Mahiao geothermal plant here, leaving only two more workers missing.
The identities of the four victims though could not be established as their bodies were decomposing.
A landslide hit the EDC site last March 1, with five workers confirmed dead and nine others missing.
Marijuana cultivator held in Mindoro
Mindoro: Authorities have arrested a marijuana cultivator during an eradication operation in Oriental Mindoro, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said.
PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr identified the suspect as Adonis Maligo, 28, a farmer, of Sitio Malapgap, Barangay B Del Mundo, Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro.
The operating team uprooted 14 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants with flowering tops from the site.
Reward up in beauty queen murder case
ANGELES CITY: A P100,000 cash reward awaits anyone who could help in the arrest of the killer of a local campus beauty queen who was stabbed dead in her dormitory here last Saturday.
Former Capas, Tarlac mayor Reynaldo Catacutan, now the vice president for operations of the Clark International Airport Corp., said the reward was raised by residents of Capas town.
“She was like a daughter to me since she had been a close friend of one of my children,” Catacutan said of Conde, this year’s Miss Engineering and Architecture Department of Holy Angel University.
