Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Forest, Sports and Cinema K B Ganesh Kumar has landed in fresh trouble after his wife Yamini Thankachy complained against him of physically assaulting her. Yamini met Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday and told him about the instances connected with the alleged affair of Ganesh with a woman she knows well.  Ganesh was recently in the news for allegedly being beaten up by his lover’s husband. Yamini said she came across a “juicy SMS” sent by the woman to Ganesh Kumar. It was forwarded to the woman’s husband working in the Gulf. Reportedly, after receiving the SMS, the man rushed to Ganesh Kumar’s house and manhandled him. Yamini alleged that she was physically assaulted by her husband after the incident. She also sought medical assistance in a private hospital for the treatment of her hand, which was twisted by Ganesh Kumar. She has warned that she may take legal action under domestic violence act and file for divorce. Later, Ganesh Kumar met the chief minister and offered to resign from the cabinet.

Go to Sri Lanka as Hanuman: Khurshid to Lalu

New Delhi: An otherwise serious discussion in the Lok Sabha yesterday on the human rights situation in Sri Lanka saw some light moments when External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid asked RJD supremo Lalu Prasad to become ‘Hanuman’ and go to India’s southern neighbour. “Laluji you can become Hanuman,” Khushid quipped when Lalu Prasad asked for an all-party parliamentary delegation to be sent to Sri Lanka. In the epic Ramayan, Hanuman was sent by Ram to Lanka to look for Sita, who had been abducted by Ravana. IANS
