DOHA: Qatar’s 2014-2015 budget is expected to be based on an assumed oil price of $65-$70 per barrel. The 2013-14 budget was based on a conservative $65 per barrel.
Al Sharq reported that an estimated 50-60 percent of the new budget is expected to be earmarked for education, health and infrastructure. It will also focus on sustainable development projects. The daily quoted local economists as saying the new budget will enhance investors’ confidence in the local economy.
The Finance Ministry is also studying the possibilities of changing the fiscal year from April-March to January-December.
