DOHA: The Sudden temporary closure of the Sheraton Doha Hotel has upset people who have booked it for weddings.
However, the hotel has made alternative arrangements for its customers, Al Wattan said yesterday.
Several people expressed dissatisfaction, saying that the hotel had failed to inform them about plans for temporary closure until December when bookings were made. Those who have booked wedding halls this month will be able to hold their functions as scheduled at the hotel.
Two wedding ceremonies were held on Wednesday, according to the hotel management.
Weddings scheduled for April and May will be given the option of holding ceremonies at the hotel’s Al Dafna or Salwa hall instead of the wedding halls without any additional charges.
Al Dafna and Salwa halls can accommodate around 800 people each and the wedding halls can host only 400 guests.
Any customer refusing to accept an alternative venue will be refunded by the management.
The hotel has been closed until December for renovation by Katara Hospitality, which owns it.
