Miami--Dustin Johnson and J.B. Holmes each aced the par-3 fourth hole within 24 minutes to top the leaderboard in Saturday's third round of a World Golf Championships event at Doral.
The Americans both used 7-irons to create hole-in-one magic at the 227-yard hole, Johnson first and 36-hole leader Holmes behind him in the day's final group.
Holmes also made two bogeys on the front nine and made the turn on nine-under par with a three-stroke lead over Johnson, who made a bogey at the second and birdies at the fifth and par-five eighth to leap into second at six-under.
That was one stroke ahead of Sweden's Henrik Stenson.
Holmes opened Thursday with a stunning 62 and followed with a 73 Friday that saw him find the water four times but still stay on top of the field.
Holmes seeks his fourth career US PGA title, having taken his first since 2008 last year at Quail Hollow.
Johnson seeks his ninth PGA triumph, his first since the 2013 HSBC Champions WGC event.
