MANAMA: A video, which went viral on the social media, showing a man hitting a hapless and chained monkey moved the authorities of Arman Zoo Jasra in Bahrain to take prompt action against the perpetrator.

The man, a driver in the zoo, was sacked from his job by the zoo administration, reported a local daily.

The film circulated on the social media showed the man hitting a poor monkey on the trot. According to the zoo administration, the driver, who is an Arab national, was handling the monkey while the cage keeper was on off duty.

The man forced the monkey to be dressed up in a T-shirt and diapers. The person who captured the video was constantly asking the perpetrator to stop beating up the poor animal.

However, the man attacked the monkey by hitting on its face and buttocks. The zoo authorities said that they had taken immediate action against the employee.

“We can never tolerate abusing an animal. Following an internal investigation we sacked him. We also appreciate the person who brought the incident to our attention,” an official told DT News.

Earlier, in a barbaric incident, a long-tailed macaque was spotted on the roof of a Benz car, which was speeding over 100 km/hr.
