Doha: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly released a resolution amending the right to granting Egyptian citizenship to foreign nationals.

The official Egyptian gazette, in its Order no. 876 for the year 2023, revealed that the Prime Minister announced that among the conditions to be met for obtaining the nationality was to have no less than US$300,000 – lowered from US$500,000 – invested into public real estate, either government owned or property of .

The required amount no longer has to be wired from abroad, but can also be paid from inside the country as long as it is done according to the Egyptian central bank's lawful regulations.

The amount paid from inside the country must have also entered Egypt through one of its customs ports, having undergone proper documentation.

The decision also allows the amount to be paid in installments, and allows the buyer "temporary residence unrelated to tourism" before finally granting the applicant their nationality following the completion of the payments.
