Doha: The international Innovation and Technological Advances for Sustainability (ITAS) conference, organised by the University of Doha for Science and Technology was a great success, according to Shell.
Rashid Al Sulaiti, Deputy General Manager, led the Shell delegation and was impressed with what he saw.
“It is remarkable to see universities and the private sector working together to develop innovative solutions to achieve Qatar’s sustainable development goals. It was an honour for Shell to contribute.” The exhibition attracted hundreds of academics, researchers and students from around the world.
There, Shell explored how it’s developing sustainable fish feed from microalgae biomass, which is grown by consuming carbon dioxide. Students were also challenged to build and race saltwater-powered cars on the miniature racetrack, to inspire them to think about alternative fuel sources for power generation.
Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of the University of Doha for Science and Technology, said: “Qatar Shell is one of our long-standing partners who had great involvement in our educational approach aiming to nurture and guide young ambitious minds. We thank them for their continued support and for helping to make the conference a success.”
