Doha: As a part of promoting Qatar’s traditions, students at MES Indian School celebrated the Garangao Fest with fanfare and traditional gaiety.

Garangao is celebrated on the 14th day of Ramadan and is the most awaited celebration for children during the days of fasting in Ramadan. In a ceremony conducted at the Conference Hall of the School, a line of activities were arranged for the students to mark the day.

Traditional Qatari costume presentations, PowerPoint presentations, speeches and narrations on Garangao, Na'at presentations, singing Garangao songs, traditional Qatari dance performances and quiz contest were some of the highlights of the activities carried out by the students. Dr. Hameeda Kadar, Principal, MES Indian School, highlighted the significance of the day and praised the students for the interest they had displayed about the celebrations.

There was also a special assembly in the KG Hall where the tiny tots danced and rejoiced to Arabic tunes followed by a parade. They rejoiced and learnt the Islamic culture integrated with values besides displaying the essence and spirit of sharing in Ramadan.
