Doha: Ooredoo, a pioneering developer of corporate social responsibility in the region, marked the festive occasion of Garangao by participating in a series of unique, thematically linked events.

The package of activities commenced on April 4, when Ooredoo joined Rafeeg Alkhair and a gathering of children to celebrate Garangao by going house to house in the traditional style.

Celebrations then saw residents and visitors invited to bring their children to a family event held at the Lusail Shooting Complex, which hosted traditional Garangao sweets distribution, gifts and activities – including fun on a children’s main stage.

Later, two nights of Garangao festivities at Msheireb Downtown Doha – the largest covered square in the Middle East – commenced, with Ooredoo as exclusive telecommunications partner. An impressive 500 bags per day of Garangao sweets were distributed at every tram stop of Sikkat Al Wadi, followed by a children’s fashion show at the fountain in Phase 4 of Sikkat Al Wadi.

Ooredoo’s Garangao festivities concluded by welcoming the public to Corniche Doha, in association with Qatar Tourism. Activities here included traditional hospitality, an art exhibition displaying local heritage and customs, a Garangao cultural celebration and a Henna corner.

Sabah Rabiah Al Kuwari, Director PR at Ooredoo, said: “Our socially responsible initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan emphasise the importance of calm, heritage, tradition and family time, helping the community we serve to upgrade its world with a heritage-inflected opportunity to spend time together and reflect upon this special time of year.”
