Doha: Qatar Cup winners Al Rayyan and Al ARabi began their semi-final challenge in the Emir Cup volleyball best-of-three semi-finals on a winning note.
Yesterday at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena, Al Rayyan maintained an upper hand over El Jaish to romp home to a 3-2 win. Al Rayyan, which tasted success against the same opponent in the Qatar Cup final, won 25/21, 12/25, 22/25 , 25/18 and 17/15. The second match of the semi-final series takes place on May 9. The third and final match of the series will be held on May 11, if the series is tied at one-all. In the second semi-final, Al Arabi defeated Police in straight sets to take series lead.
The Qatar Volleyball Association League winners played to a plan to register a fluent 3-0 (25/17, 25/18 and 25/21)over police.
The final will take place on May 13.
