Doha: Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading communications company, and the Qatar Football Association (QFA), the governing body of football in Qatar, have signed a three-year partnership agreement in a ceremony at Ooredoo’s HQ1 in West Bay, yesterday.
The agreement, which was signed by Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar and Mansoor Al Ansari, General Secretary of QFA, will see Ooredoo support two of the QFA’s top events, The Emir Cup and University League, as well as the Qatar national team and Qatar Olympic team.
With yesterday’s agreement, Ooredoo will be the official telecommunication partner for all QFA events until 2018.
Al Kubaisi, COO Ooredoo, said: “Ooredoo has been a supporter of football in Qatar for a long time. Not just for our national team, but for our local leagues, grassroots players and the youth of this country.”
“This partnership is another demonstration of our commitment to the incredible sporting talent Qatar has, and we aim to bring our technology to each match, to create new ways to enjoy the spirit and excitement of the game. I thank the QFA for partnering with us once again, and look forward to the next three years of advancement.”
Al Ansari, commented: “We are delighted to sign this partnership agreement with a global telecommunications company such as Ooredoo, to support the country’s biggest football tournament of the year.”
“By partnering with Ooredoo, we are able to reach a wider segment of our fans, therefore, allowing them to extend their support to the most famous tournament in Qatar,” he added.
The sponsorship is the latest in a long line of agreements between Ooredoo and QFA, as the organisations work together to promote football in Qatar in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.
Ooredoo is offering financial support for the events and teams, and will be encouraging its customers to watch and attend upcoming games via its Supernet network and through newspaper adverts.
This is the latest in a series of Ooredoo promotions and activities built around sporting tournaments in 2016, including the Qatar Cup.
