Doha: Since the beginning of this academic year, students from grade one to eight can opt for Kannada as a second or third language at DPS-Monarch International School.
Applauding this initiative, Karnataka Sangha Qatar handed over the appreciation letter to DPS Monarch International School issued by the Karnataka Development Authority, Government of Karnataka.
Dignitaries who attended the meeting included: Hassan Chougule, President DPS Monarch International School; Yasir Nainar, Vice-President DPS Monarch International School; Rocky Fernandes , Director; Meenal Bakshi, Principal; Mahesh Gowda, President KSQ; Subramanya Hebbagelu, Vice-President ICC; Sandeep Reddy, Vice-President KSQ; Savious Crasta, membership and media coordinator KSQ; Madhu Uppal, Headmistress (middle and secondary school); and Sujith Kumar, Headmaster (KG and primary), DPS Monarch International School.
Gowda thanked the school management for accepting the request to start Kannada and reaffirmed the continued support of KSQ helping the school incorporate Kannada smoothly into their CBSE curriculum and also for arranging required Kannada workbooks from Karnataka.
Meenal Bakshi, the principal, said the initiative aims to address the need of Kannadiga communities and as part of the cosmopolitan demographic shift with an increase in the number of bi/multilingual students that the school serves.
