Qatar Philatelic, Numismatic Stamp Center receives medals during Asian exhibition

Doha: The Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Stamp Center at the Ministry of Culture has been awarded valued international medals during its participation in the 38th Asian International Philatelic Exhibition which wrapped up its events in New Zealand yesterday.

Held under the banner of the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (FIAP), the four-day event featured participation of members from 66 countries from over the world.

Director of the center Hussain Rajab Al Ismail said in a statement that the center has been awarded honored results during its participation in the exhibition, where an elite of international juries evaluated these results.

The first regular stamps of Qatar (eight frames) received a gold medal G, containing the stamps of Sheikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani, which are the first collection of regular stamps for Qatar depicting a photo of Sheikh Ahmed, along with mosque, falcon and oil rig.

The Stamps of Qatar (five frames) got a large silver medal LS from the sheikhdom of Qatar from 1930-1963, whilst the postal history of Kuwait (five frames) received Gold medal V, with the postal history of Bahrain (eight frames) receiving large Gold medal LV.
