Doha: Qatar Charity has implemented a project to house over 200 displaced Syrian families in the province of Idlib at a cost of around QR755,000.
The camp was opened by Assistant Executive Director for International Development Ebrahim Mousa Zainal during a visit to the camp.
“Qatar Charity has implemented this project in light of the urgent need among displaced people in this area for shelter and decent housing, particularly within families where there are children or elderly people,” Zainal said.
“Qatar Charity worked hard to ensure that the camp was built and equipped at the earliest opportunity,” he added.
The beneficiaries of the camp expressed their thanks and praised QC’s efforts on behalf of the Syrians, especially those displaced within the country, where humanitarian organisations find access difficult due to the deteriorating security conditions.
QC provided the campground and the areas adjacent to it, which may be used later due to the expected displacement of neighboring villages. Two hundred and eight tents were fully equipped, providing shelter for around 1,200 people.
