Doha: The “Kanaf” Parenting Centre, one of the centres under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, gave a series of specialised awareness programs and workshops, as part of its efforts to support and empower parents.

Targeting people at different stages of parenting, the series of programs and workshops sought to contribute to enhancing parental awareness and creating a supportive and stable family environment.

The series featured a programme for prospective parents, raising their awareness of the requirements of parenthood and fostering a deeper understanding of the psychological and social changes associated with this decision.

Another programme was dedicated to pregnant women, offering them psychological and educational support, raising their awareness of the physical and emotional changes experienced during pregnancy, and providing them with guidance to help them prepare for motherhood and create a safe environment for their newborns.

Also among Kanaf’s programmes was one targeting expectant and new fathers, preparing them for their parental responsibilities, boosting their support for mothers during pregnancy and after childbirth, and helping them understand their children’s needs and maintaining family balance.

The series also included a program for new parents, designed to prepare them for the parenting experience and boosting their confidence in their parenting skills, equipping them with all that is necessary to handle everyday challenges, thereby supporting family communication and creating a nurturing environment for children’s development.

In this context, Executive Director of “Kanaf” Parenting Center, Dr. Maryam Al Malki said that this series comes in the context of the centre’s work in raising awareness and providing training that address parental needs at various stages.

At the “Kanaf” Parenting Center, conscious parenting is seen to begins with early preparation and parents’ understanding of their roles and responsibilities in creating a safe and balanced family environment, said Dr. Al Malki.

The centre is committed to offering specialised programmes that respond to parental needs, providing parents with the knowledge and practical skills that would enhance the quality of their parent-child relationships, she added.

These programmes embody the Centre’s mission to empower families and promote partnership and sharing parenting responsibilities, thereby contributing to family stability and supporting children’s growth in a healthy and secure environment.

This series is part of the “Kanaf” Parenting Centre’s annual plan, with the Centre preparing to launch a new series of programs and workshops in the coming months.
