Riyadh: The official spokesperson for Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defense, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, said that investigations and a technical review revealed that the ballistic missile launched from Yemen on Monday, June 8, 2026, was intended for a regional country.
In a statement issued as a follow-up to an earlier announcement regarding the missile's disappearance near the Saudi-Yemeni border, Al-Maliki explained that technical issues caused the missile to malfunction and deviate from its intended course.
He further stated that the malfunction resulted in inaccurate indications of the missile's target, adding that the projectile fell in an uninhabited area near the Saudi-Yemeni border.
