11-year-old boy rescued from kidnappers

New Delhi: An 11-year-old son of a businessman kidnapped from here allegedly by two property dealers for Rs15m ransom was rescued from Haryana’s Rewari district yesterday morning, Delhi Police said. One of the accused has been arrested.

Harmeet, a Class 6 student, was rescued yesterday morning from inside a car parked near Rewari Railway Station in Haryana, police said.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar, the boy was kidnapped from near his house in Rajendra Nagar in central Delhi on Saturday evening, when he had gone to buy a mobile recharge coupon.

A Rs15m ransom call was made around 6.41pm on Saturday to the boy’s mother Jaswinder Kaur. Two more ransom calls were made at 8.30pm and 11pm, said a police officer. “The parents immediately informed us. Ten teams were formed for investigation,” said Alok Kumar. IANS
