84 Telangana, Andhra workers return from Iraq

Hyderabad: The third batch of workers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh yesterday returned from war-torn Iraq. As many as 84 men from the two Telugu-speaking states who were part of a group of 186 Indian evacuees returned home by a special flight, officials said.
The evacuees landed in Delhi in the early hours of the day. The workers from the two states were brought to Andhra Pradesh Bhavan by the officials on the direction of Satish Chandra, resident commissioner of Andhra Pradesh Bhavan. After making necessary arrangements, the evacuees were sent to Hyderabad by three flights. 
Woman lawyer’s killer gets life sentence  
Mumbai: A Mumbai court yesterday awarded life sentence to a watchman convicted of molesting and murdering a woman lawyer, Pallavi Purkayastha, two years ago.
Sajjad A Pathan alias Mogal, 23, worked at the Himalayan Heights apartments here when he stabbed to death the 25-year-old woman on August 9, 2012. The victim was the daughter of a senior bureaucrat couple.
Sessions Judge Vrushali Joshi observed that the crime did not fall in the “rarest of rare” category and hence Mogal should be imprisoned for the rest of his life.
Last week, the judge pronounced that “a case of murder, molestation and criminal trespass has been proved” against him.

New Delhi: The spokesperson of hardline Hindu outfit RSS, Ram Madhav joined the BJP yesterday. Another RSS leader Shiv Prakash is also likely to join the party. The developments come following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s close aide Amit Shah’s name doing the rounds as the next BJP president.IANS
