Environment Ministry extends ban on bird-call whistles

DOHA: The Ministry of Environment has extended the ban on bird-call whistles that can be used to attract some of the protected species of birds for illegal trade.

The ban was extended from September 1 this year to May 2014, since the protected birds are found here in this period, Al Sharq reported yesterday.

Many of the seized whistles were meant to mimic the calls of crown birds. Using such a whistle one can attract the birds in large numbers and catch them for illegal trade.
