Singapore: Gold prices edged slightly higher on Tuesday as the US dollar weakened, while markets awaited the release of US inflation data, which could shape expectations regarding the Federal Reserve’s next move on monetary policy.
Spot gold rose 0.3% to $4,418.79 per ounce, while US gold futures for December delivery fell 0.3% to $4,464.80.
The dollar index declined 0.3%, making dollar-denominated metals less expensive for buyers holding other currencies.
Among other precious metals, spot silver rose 0.3% to $66.34 per ounce, platinum gained 0.6% to $1,836.97, and palladium rose 0.9% to $1,401.47.
