Doha: Pakistan Education Center (PEC) team won 3rd Ambassador Trophy Debate Championship recently. Twelve students from Pakistani schools of Qatar participated in the Urdu debate competition, which was held for the third year in a row.
The championship was organised by Ehsas, a socio cultural organisation of overseas Pakistanis in Qatar, at PEC premises. Veteran Pakistani writer and poet Amjad Islam Amjad was the chief guest and columnist and poet Professor Nasim Shahid was the key note speaker.
Ambassador Muhammad Sarfraz Ahmed Khanzada presided over the function. Aemon Yaqoob Qamar from PEC won the first position along with a cash prize of QR1,000, while Asadullah Khan from Bright Future Pakistani International School (BFPIS) and Ibrahim Rashid from PEC secured second and third positions respectively and received awards worth QR750 and QR500.
Based on the overall marks of the competing students, PEC lifted the team trophy this year.
Salman Sheikh, Zuha Sattar, Maira Javed, Aisha Sharif spoke in favour of the motion, while the opposition panel included Aysha Abdul Qadoos, Kiran Imtiaz, Maham Shehzad, Umar Jaleel and Nida Nasir.
