DOHA: Over a dozen shows and activities organised under Qatar Tourism Authority’s (QTA) Eid Al Adha festival continued to delight mall-goers as Eid Al Adha holidays ended yesterday.
The shows are presented daily starting at 4pm at City Centre Doha, Lagoona, Hyatt Plaza, Landmark, The Mall and Al Khor Mall.
At The Mall, a tanoura dancer and a speed painter were among those that captivated visitors who thronged the venue as early as 3pm.
Rhythmically spinning in his multi-coloured skirt, the tanoura dancer impressed the audience with his unique form of entertainment which originated from a religious practice.
The combination of colours and shapes in his attire was a feast to the eyes of the spectators as he performed tirelessly for 20 minutes non-stop.
Apart from his multi-coloured and layered skirts, other props, including small umbrellas, drums and veil, added to the drama and surprise in the presentation.
“This is the first time I have seen a show like this. His performance was breathtaking,” said Bea, one of the expatriate onlookers at the venue.
Meanwhile, the speed painter created a painting of a camel in 10 minutes.
An oriental parade and face painting were also held at The Mall which hosted the events until late night.
The mall shows run until Friday.
Other shows and activities in the malls include Dora’s Ballet Adventures, freestyle football, traditional Arda dance, Fritters show, Shaun the Sheep, Adventure Time, Steve Kaos, Bubblez and Balloonz, Dan Druff Circus, Mr. Potato Head and Sweets for Kids.
Other locations in Doha serve as main venues of a variety of shows, including Katara where Angry Birds exhibition runs until the end of this month and ‘Dreams on Ice’ circus until the end of next month.
Souq Waqif is also presenting shows until Friday. They include Cinderella, circus, concerts, games and street performances.
