Doha: On the eve of Hindi Diwas, NIA Hindi Toastmasters Club of Area 7, Division B, District 116, conducted a virtual ‘Kavi Sammelan’ (poets conference) for the budding poets of Doha recently as a part of the club’s Open House. Over 80 guests from Qatar, India, and Tanzania participated in this virtual event.
Nasreen Bano started the event with her engaging voice and welcomed the club president Dr. Meenu Parashar who formally opened the event, highlighting the prominence of the Hindi language.
He also appreciated the efforts made by the club members to promote their mother tongue.
Eminent young international poet Amit Sharma from India and Jitendra Jalesari from Tanzania were the distinguished guests.
The program started with international poet Amit Sharma, followed by the famous poet Jitendra Jalesari’ from Tanzania.
Poets from Doha and India, Sunita Saini, Sameer Moosa, Dr. Trilok Sharma, Shalini Garg, Hemant Majumdar, Smriti Trivedi, and Shalini Verma all performed to the admonishment of the audience. Dr. Meenu Parashar, Avaneesh Agrawal, Poonam Tanwar, Akshay Arya, and Vandana Raj were also top performers.
The event was coordinated by Area 7 Director Kumaran CS, supported by, Sameer Moosa, K P Murli, and Dr. Trilok Sharma. Asha Sehgal delivered a vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, the Club also declared the winners of the ‘Children’s Poetry Recitation Contest,' which was organised recently by the Club in collaboration with the India embassy in Qatar on the occasion of ‘Hindi Pakhwara’.
In Category 1, Aysha Falak & Sambhav Kumar Singh took first place, while Jayesh Upadhyay finished second. In Category 2, Kriesha Sharma took first place while Tuba Mahveen and Slesha Ravish were second.
