Kuwait: Kuwait will not replace Saudi Arabia at the UN Security Council, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Khaled Al Jarallah said yesterday, denying reports.
“Kuwait forms part of efforts being carried out to convince Saudi Arabia to reverse its decision (and not turn down a non-permanent Council seat),” Al Jarallah was quoted as saying by state news agency KUNA. Kuwait is aware of Saudi Arabia’s constructive role and political weight and its ability to impact the Council’s efforts to resolve issues by occupying its seat, he said.
