DOHA: The Permanent Committee for Drugs and Alcohol Affairs held a consultative session for coordinators of National Drug Control Strategy (2010-2015) at its headquarters in Al Sailiya.
It was attended by representatives of organisations and departments, including Drug Enforcement Administration at the Ministry of Interior, the Supreme Education Council, the Supreme Council of Health, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Qatar Media Corporation, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, Qatar Foundation for Social Protection and Rehabilitation, General Authority of Customs, Eid Charity and Raf.
The Secretary of the committee, Lt. Col. Ibrahim Muhammad Rashid Al Somaih, said the meeting was the conclusion of previous sessions to discuss implementation of the National Drug Control Strategy, especially recommendations of the Cabinet with regard to the third phase of implementation.
He said the committee will submit its fourth report to the Cabinet on what has been accomplished in the third stage of the strategy and proposals for the fourth stage. He said the strategy, in its fourth year, has made achievements, including facilities provided for psychiatric treatment and centres for rehabilitation.
He Lt. Col. Al Somaih said the upcoming Naufar project will contribute to the field as it will provide state-of-the-art healthcare and treatment facilities for substance abuse therapy and rehabilitation.The Peninsula
