DOHA: The Supreme Education Council (SEC) will not roll back its decision to bar about 1,900 students of Independent schools from taking the first assessment examinations.
A source told Al Sharq said there was no possibility of reconsideration of the decision.
The SEC had earlier said its decision followed the students’  absence from schools for seven days since the beginning of current session without appropriate reason. The examinations for grades one to 11 begin on Sunday.
As per the SEC’s new norms, any student who remains absent for seven or more days without appropriate reasons will not be allowed to take the examinations.
Officials from Institute of Education at SEC will visit schools to supervise the examinations and prevent cheating.
