Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, President & CEO of Qatar Petroleum, participated in the opening Global Business Leaders Panel at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC), which was opened yesterday under the theme “Strategies for the New Energy Landscape.” The panelists also included Bob Dudley, the CEO of British Petroleum; Claudio Descalzi, the CEO of ENI; Patrick Pouyanné, the Chairman and CEO of TOTAL; and Darren Woods, President and Director of ExxonMobil Corporation.
Al-Kaabi’s participation during the panel focused on the world oil outlook, and what the industry can do on the short and medium terms and how it can best adapt to ensure continued growth. He also highlighted and discussed issues related to how business leaders are anticipating and preparing for unexpected challenges and opportunities.
At the panel discussion, Al-Kaabi said: “As the industry redefines itself, we can only manage the factors under our control. We need to focus on improving efficiency in our operations, while maintaining our highest HSE standards. We also need to pay attention to reducing our operating costs as much as possible, or eliminating the expenditures that do not add to our profitability.”
He added: “We, in Qatar Petroleum and its subsidiaries, have substantially reduced our operating costs, while maintaining our high HSE standards.
