The hosts of the next two FIFA World Cup editions - Russia and Qatar - are all set to clash in an international friendly tomorrow at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Russia, the hosts of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, have already arrived in Doha for their clash against hosts Qatar - who are being coached by Jorge Fossati.
Qatar - hosts of the 2022 FIFA World Cup - have scheduled the friendly for match practice ahead of their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against China on November 15.
During their training session yesterday, the Qatar squad was joined by Qatar Football Association President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani who threw his support behind the national side as it prepares for an 'important two games' over the course of less than one week. Fossati - who announced his a 27-member squad last Friday - headed the training sessions yesterday as QFA President watched from the sidelines. Earlier in the day, the squad attended a video training session at the football headquarters at Aspire Academy.
The Qatar squad will now train today at the match venue - Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium - where the game will take place tomorrow under lights. Qatar are aiming to qualify for the finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Fossati's side has already played four games in this phase of Asian Zone qualifying. Qatar beat Syria 1-0 in their last qualifying match in Doha on October 6.
