DOHA: Experts have said that lack of water and problems caused by it are not sufficiently addressed in negotiations at the climate change conference and other global events related to the environment. In a press conference, Lovisa Selander, from Water and Climate Coalition, said that “climate change is about water availability, and there needs to be a better discussion.”
On this basis, she added that “climate adaptation is not only about water resources, water resources are necessary and water lacks in the discussions,” she insisted. Nevertheless, Water and Climate Coalition is “very happy to see that at the opening ceremony of the high level talks, the secretary general of the UN, Ban Ki-moon, announced he would be scheduling a high level debate about water, among other topics.” Pervaiz Amir, from Global Water Partnership (GWP) in South Asia, said that the organisation is moving ahead with their programmes in Pakistan and hope to move forward with initiatives in Afghanistan, which is “traditionally left out, because it’s bordering into areas of international countries.”The Peninsula
