H E Ambassador P Kumaran flags off the cycle rally at Doha Corniche.
Indian Sports Center which is the apex body for the Indian Community in Qatar for sports working under the patronage of Embassy of India organised a cycle rally to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahathma Gandhi.
The event took place on the walk way of Doha Corniche near Sheraton Doha next to Costa coffee on Friday. The speciality of the rally was that it had 150 cyclists and was flagged off by H E Indian Ambassador, P. Kumaran, at 7.30am.
The rally was completed at the sculpture Orry, the Asian Games mascot which covered approximately 2km. Eminent personalities from the Indian community including Captain Kapil Kaushik, Rajesh Kamble, Dhiman, Rajinder Bhagath (from Indian Embassy), Sharaf P Hameed (Acting President - ISC), Azim Abbas (President IBPC), P N Baburaj (President ICBF), Dr. R Seetharaman (CEO Doha Bank), MS Bukhari (SATCO) among others attended the event.
At the finishing point after concluding the rally a public function was arranged where the ISC acting president Sharaf P Hammed welcomed the gathering.
In the keynote address, Ambassador P. Kumaran shared the thoughts of Mahathma Gandhi who inspire all Indians to become united with the bond of love and affection.
The Ambassador stressed on the importance of using bicycles where ever possible which will reduce the pollution and make the environment better for the human beings.
