Doha: The Music Affairs Center of the Ministry of Culture and Sports will hold on December 28 a major musical event in cooperation with the Doha-based Unesco Office for the Gulf States and Yemen, as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the famous music composer Ludwig van Beethoven.
It will be held at the Qatar National Theater and includes a dramatic musical performance with an oriental flavour, in which many different artistic forms are combined, including acting, playing music, scenography, and others creative works.
Deputy Director of the Music Affairs Center Abdul Hamid Al Yousef said that the event will present creative forms by playing music that carries the spirit of oriental music in what is considered a model for fusion between the multiple and diverse musical cultures.
It comes within the framework of the center’s interaction with various occasions, especially after it recently won the membership of the International Council of Music, a matter which made Qatar an integral part of the global music map. The center is keen to celebrate this occasion in cooperation with Unesco at a time when the whole world celebrates Beethoven, he said.
