Doha: Qatar will participate in the 5th edition of International Holy Quran Competition in Khartoum.
Abdulaziz Al Halwan will represent Qatar in the category (memorising the whole Quran).
About 60 contestants from all over the world will compete in the contest which started yesterday and lasts a week.
The first prize is $40,000, the second $30,000 and third $20,000.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is keen to participate in such international competitions and achieve advanced position.
