Quranic Botanical Garden to hold global forum

Doha: The Quranic Botanical Garden  will  hold its  Second International Forum  under the title of “the Islamic perspective on ecosystem management” from April 22 to 24 in collaboration with the Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature, with  support of Qatar Petroleum.
Director of  the Garden Fatima Saleh Al Khulaifi said  that  the Forum brings together a number of  scientists and experts  in the management of ecosystems, specialists in the management of the botanical gardens, in addition to religious scholars.
The forum will shed light  on the principles, ethics and values of Islam, which urges the preservation of plants and the environment, and will highlight the role of cultural traditions and customs in maintaining ecosystems.


Dhreima Spring Festival concludes


Doha: Qatar Orphan Foundation (Dhreima) Spring Festival with the participation of Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), concluded yesterday.
The two-week festival activities included educational and cultural programmes for Dhreima children and the families of the staff.
Dhreima Director-General, Khalid Kamal said that the participation of Lekhwiya in this event confirmed that the  orphans care in Qatar is a shared responsibility between all segments of the society, and that everyone contributes to the achievement of social development, which is one of the pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030.


Envoy  meets US Congressmen

Washington: Qatar’s Ambassador to the United States Mohammad Jahham Al Kuwari held several meetings with a number of representatives at the US House of Representatives. He met separately Representative for California Darrell Edward Issa, Representative for West Virginia Nick Rahall, Representative for New York Michael Grimm, Representative for New York and ranking minority member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Eliot Engel, Representative for Indiana Andre Carson, Representative for New York Carolyn Maloney and Representative for California Dana Rohrabacher. He also met Joe Manchin, the US Senator for West Virginia.
