Qatari businessmen are interested to explore the investment opportunities available in Niger, particularly in areas of mining and natural resources, oil and gas, gold and uranium, as well as other sectors, said Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Tawar Al Kawari, Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber ,yesterday.
Qatar Chamber received Mahamadou Issoufou, President of Niger and his accompanying delegation. Qatar is now one of the countries attracting investments worldwide and Qatari private sector has managed to prove itself in many international markets said Al Kawari. This meeting represent great opportunity for Qatari businessmen to be informed about the available investment and business opportunities in Niger he added.
President Issoufou outlined that his country has realised economic growth of six percent over the past five years and can be a gateway for Qatari investment to The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS which has population of over 300 million.
Niger has signed with Qatar the double taxation agreement and it is about to sign an agreement to protect the Qatari investment in Niger he added. Niger has investment opportunities in areas of infrastructures, energy, communication, agriculture, food security, tourism and hospitality and mining. The aim of this visit is to facilitate communication between the business community in the two country .
