Doha: Minister of Justice H E Masoud bin Mohamed Al Ameri hailed the wise decision of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to allocate a day for sports in Qatar to achieve awareness of the importance of sports and its role in the life, development, and progress of society.

During his participation in the events organised by the Ministry of Justice, His Excellency noted the state’s provision of sports infrastructure and integrated health services for all to practice various sports that suit different tastes and ages and to achieve the lofty goals of Amiri Decision No. 80 of 2011.

The Minister of Justice pointed out that thanks to the wise leadership’s efforts and support for the sports sector, and the successful efforts of the health sector, the State of Qatar achieved unprecedented achievements in the field of sports during the COVID-19 pandemic period. Qatar won a global success certificate for the 2022 World Cup, after the distinctive and successful hosting of the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, and the completion of quality sports facilities, which are considered a national and global heritage that future generations will benefit from, he added.

The Minister urged all citizens and residents to invoke the noble values of the National Sport Day and participate in its activities in accordance with the measures and requirements set by the Sport Day Committee, in a way that achieves the desired goals and ensures the preservation of public health and safety of all. The ministry’s programme, which was held at Al Sadd Sports Club, included various sports activities and events, including walking and warming up, and friendly football matches among the ministry’s staff, in addition to table tennis, basketball, tennis, and padel matches, in coordination with a health centre, advice, and guidance provided by sports supervisors at Al Sadd Sports Club. The programme aimed to enhance awareness of the importance of sports spread a culture of interest in it, and motivate employees to continue exercising sports activities and follow a healthy way of life, to improve lifestyle and enjoy better physical health. 

This celebration also came in the framework of a partnership with Al Sadd Sports Club, an affirmation of commitment to the standards set by the National Sport Day Committee, and the organisational measures to achieve the lofty goals of Amiri Decision No. 80 of 2011 regarding the National Sport Day.
