Doha, Qatar: As part of the National Sports Day activities, the Lusail Shooting Range is preparing to welcome participants from all segments of society to enjoy the events held there and to learn firsthand about the fundamentals of this time-honored sport, under the supervision of specialized trainers and in full adherence to the highest safety and security standards.

The Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation is also preparing to organize numerous events during National Sports Day at various locations across the country, including Al Adaam Village in Lusail, Aspire Academy, Qatar Foundation, Oxygen Park, the Olympic Museum, the Diplomatic Club, Katara Cultural Village, and Al Hazm Mall.

Participation in Qatar National Sports Day aligns with the country's vision of establishing a culture of sport as a way of life and raising awareness of the importance of physical activity and its direct positive effects on physical and mental health. The occasion also represents an annual opportunity to strengthen the community's connection to sports in all its forms.

The events held during National Sports Day are not limited to entertainment; they also carry an educational and awareness-raising dimension. They offer the public the opportunity to discover the sport of shooting and to learn about its values of focus, discipline, and precision, while supporting promising talents and encouraging community members to try new sporting experiences in a safe and stimulating environment.

National Sports Day is an annual national event aimed at promoting a culture of sport, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and motivating state institutions and the private sector to contribute to building an active and vibrant society. This is exemplified by the Lusail Shooting Range through its active participation and diverse programs during this occasion.

The Lusail Shooting Range is among the most prominent specialized sports facilities in Qatar and the region, having established itself as a leading platform for precision sports and an accredited venue for hosting major continental and international championships. It also plays a pivotal role in developing champions and fostering the local base of shooting sports.

Since its establishment in accordance with the highest international standards, the Lusail Shooting Complex has hosted skeet and trap competitions, in addition to rifle, pistol, and archery events, providing a comprehensive environment for training and competition. This has contributed to building a sophisticated sports system that has positioned Qatar at the forefront of shooting sports in the region. The Lusail Shooting Complex includes five ranges dedicated to trap and skeet, three ranges for rifle and pistol (10 meters, 25 meters, and 50 meters), and two archery ranges, reflecting the facility's overall readiness.

The Lusail Shooting Range achieved a prominent continental presence by hosting all shooting competitions during the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, a pivotal milestone that solidified its position as a certified continental facility capable of organizing major championships in accordance with the highest technical and organizational standards. This role continued with the hosting of the 2011 Arab Games, several Asian Shooting Championships, and Olympic qualifying tournaments, further strengthening the confidence of continental and international federations in its organizational capabilities.

Thanks to the role played by the Lusail Shooting Range in preparing and developing shooting champions, one of the most prominent achievements in the history of Qatari sports was realized when shooter Nasser bin Saleh Al Attiyah won the bronze medal in the skeet competition at the 2012 London Olympic Games, securing Qatar's first-ever Olympic medal in shooting. This historic achievement was the culmination of years of hard work, training, and international exposure.

In recent years, the Lusail Shooting Range has further solidified its global standing by hosting the ISSF World Cup Finals and the Asian Shotgun Championships, attracting elite Olympic and world champions. This has provided Qatari shooters with valuable opportunities for direct competition against diverse shooting styles and has contributed to raising their technical and competitive levels.

The Lusail Shooting Range reaffirmed its leading role during the 2026 Asian Shotgun Championships, where Qatari shooters achieved remarkable success, most notably winning four gold and four silver medals in the skeet and trap competitions. This achievement garnered widespread praise from Asian sporting circles for the facility's readiness and meticulous organization.

The role of the Lusail Shooting Range extends beyond hosting championships and securing victories, as it also plays a vital role in the daily development and refinement of talent through continuous training programs. These programs have contributed to the emergence of several Qatari shooters, including Rashid Saleh Al Athba, Saeed Abu Sharib, Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Masoud Hamad Al Athba, and Reem Al Sharshani, who have made notable contributions at the continental, international, and Olympic levels.

From the Lusail Shooting Range emerges the story of a sports complex that is not merely a venue for competition, but a true school for producing champions and a witness to a journey that blends heritage with achievement. Its mission aligns with the goals of National Sports Day in building an active and healthy society and in consolidating Qatar's position as a regional and global hub for precision sports.
