PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to install the ‘access control system’ at all sensitive installations in the provincial capital to ensure foolproof security of the people.
The system comprises biometric system and closed-circuit television cameras, according to police spokesman Riaz Ahmad.
The decision to install the ‘access control system’ at sensitive installations was taken on the recommendation of provincial Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani.
The spokesman said the step was taken in line with the provisions of the recently-promulgated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sensitive and Vulnerable Establishments and Places (Security) Ordinance 2014.
He said the sensitive installation include the Supreme Court, high court and provincial assembly buildings, Judicial Complex, Civil Secretariat and Peshawar prison.
All these buildings are located adjacent to each others.
Also in the day, the implementation of the recently promulgated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Restriction of Rented Buildings (Security) Ordinance 2014 was examined during another high-level meeting at the central police office (CPO).
While presiding over the meeting, Durrani said under the law, it was obligatory on all landlords to produce the details of their tenants in their respective police stations.
The meeting was told that landlords had failed to produce the requisite details by the March 6 deadline and therefore, they could face legal action. INTERNEWS
