Thousands of community members attend Ramadan gatherings

Doha, Qatar: The Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center organised a number of lectures and outreach gatherings for expatriate communities during the first week of the holy month of Ramadan from February 23 to 27.

The events were delivered in several languages and addressed Ramadan-related topics and issues concerning Muslim individuals and their families.

Lectures at the Center’s tent in Al Wakra

A lecture titled “The Meaning of the Two Testimonies of Faith” by preacher Abdulshakoor Al-Salahi in the Malayalam language was attended by 850 participants including men, women, and children.

A lecture titled “Raising Children” by preacher Mohammed Badr Al-Huda in Urdu was attended by 575 people.

A lecture titled “The Virtues of the Month of Ramadan” by preacher Abdul Hafeez Al-Omari for the Urdu-speaking community was attended by 350 people.

A lecture for the Bengali community delivered by preacher Mahbubur Rahman on making the most of the month of Ramadan through worship and obedience was attended by 600 people.

Preacher Abdulshakoor Al-Salahi discussed the meaning of the two testimonies of faith in a lecture attended by 850 Malayalam-speaking men, women, and children, highlighting the importance of the two testimonies in a person’s life and how to fulfil their true meaning. A lecture for the Urdu-speaking community titled “The Virtues of the Month of Ramadan” was delivered by Abdul Hafeez Al-Omari, where he spoke about the key virtues of the holy month and its impact on a person’s life.

The tent also hosted a lecture for the Bengali community, where preacher Mahbubur Rahman discussed the importance of making the most of the blessed month through worship and acts of obedience.

Lectures at the Center’s headquarters and mosques

The theme of family and its happiness was also addressed in a lecture directed to the Tamil-speaking community, where preacher Agar Abdul Karim presented a lecture titled “The Happy Family” at the Center’s headquarters, attended by 500 Tamil speakers. He discussed the impact of faith on family happiness and tranquility, and its importance in raising children.

The Center’s lectures also continued at Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al Thani Mosque in The Pearl, where preacher Muslih Al-Din Al-Omari delivered a lecture titled “Etiquette of Fasting.” In the presence of 39 attendees, he discussed recommended practices in fasting that help Muslims attain greater reward.Preacher Mohammed Al-Haj delivered a lecture on the value of reciting the Quran and ways to reflect upon it, attended by 240 men and women. In Mesaieed, preacher Dr. Amir Faisal presented a lecture on lessons learned from Surah Al-Kahf, attended by 100 Indonesian speakers. An outreach programme for the Indonesian community was also held at Al-Abdullah Mosque in Al Wakra, attended by 50 participants.

Meanwhile, the Center’s headquarters in Asian Town hosted a lecture in the Oromo language for the Ethiopian community, attended by 220 people, where preachers Mohammed Bakr and Ahmed Rashad discussed the meanings and importance of reflecting on the Qur’an during Ramadan.
