Experts and children during the event to mark World Autism Awareness Day.
Doha: On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Month, Qatar Institute for Speech and Hearing (QISH), a leading institution in Qatar providing services for the differently-abled under the Ministry of Public Health, organised an autism awareness event on April 6, 2023.
In this initiative, QISH hopes to dispel misconceptions about autism and increase public knowledge of the disorder.
The event at the Grand Wyndham Regency in Doha was inaugurated by Dr. Khalid Abdul Hadi, National Lead, Health and Well Being for Persons with Special Needs.
During his address on the World Autism Awareness theme of “Contributions at home, at work, in the arts and in policymaking”, Dr. Khalid Al Hadi enlightened the audience.
In order to increase awareness and promote acceptance, which results in reforms to the rights of all children and teenagers with autism, QISH has been hosting educational, amusing, and engaging events throughout this month. By valuing their differences and fostering possibilities in the educational and employment fields, we can enable and encourage people with autism to have fulfilling lives.
The world has to realise that instead of only being a burden, people with autism may contribute to society in a variety of ways if we approach them with optimism and a positive attitude.
The event was attended by QISH Chairman Essa Abdullah Al Mannai; QISH Group Managing Director Niyas Kavungal; Board of Directors members Sameer Abdullah, Dr. Muneer Ali, Mohammad Miandad, Luay; QISH Group HR and Admin Manager Jaseena Shemeer; Center Managers Tamir Rashid, Mahmoud Elabassiri, Hebatullah; Clinical Directors Satish Segar, Jini Sam.
