Doha: The Board of Trustees for QFA Awards, headed by H E Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, head of the Qatar Football Association, has finalised the list of nominees ahead of the glitzy event which will be held on April 21. A number of awards are up for grabs during the ceremony and the Board of Trustees has also explained how the voting process took place.
A host of voting forms were passed around to key stakeholders in football to vote across the following categories: Best U23 Player, Coach of the year and Player of the Year. Among those who were asked to make their choice were, local media, trainers of Qatar Stars League teams, first team coaches, a representative of the Qatar Football Association, a representative of the Qatar Stars League Foundation and the chairman and members of the Board of Trustees for the Qatar Football Association Awards.
The Trustee’s also confirmed again that the Mansor Muftah award, which is given to the top scorer in the QSL season, will be shared between Al Rayyan’s Rodrigo Tabata and El Jaish’s Abderrazak Hamdallah. Both strikers grabbed 21 goals this term.
The remaining awards will be distributed on the evening of Saturday the 21st of May at the QNCC, and is seen as the end of season event to bring the Qatari domestic football season to a close.
