Doha: Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater held yesterday a virtual meeting with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) H E Mirjana Spoljaric.
During the meeting, they discussed cooperation between the State of Qatar and the ICRC, especially in providing assistance to the Sudanese people, particularly in the health field.
The two sides asserted the necessity of securing humanitarian corridors so that aid can reach the areas most affected by the fighting in Sudan, such as Khartoum and Omdurman.
The Minister of State for International Cooperation commended the great and vital role that the ICRC plays in mitigating the effects of the tragic repercussions of the fighting in Sudan.
Mirjana Spoljaric voiced ICRC’s appreciation to the State of Qatar and its various institutions for running the airlift, which was launched on Friday to support those affected by the fighting
in Sudan.
