DOHA: An elite representative body of the private sector has welcomed the changes proposed in the sponsorship and exit permit rules for foreign workers.
Qatari Businessmen’s Association (QBA) has said private businesses would easily adapt themselves to the new rules. “The new rules are expected soon and would be welcome,” said QBA chief, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani.
He told Al Arab daily in remarks published yesterday that the business community is confident that whatever changes the government is planning to introduce to the sponsorship law would be welcome because it wouldn’t hurt their interest.
“Businessmen are happy and satisfied. Of course, the government wouldn’t harm our interest so whatever it does would be in our interest,” Sheikh Faisal said. THE PENINSULA
