Doha: Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) will launch this year’s Ramadan Sports Festival (RSF) tomorrow.
The RSF, two week sporting event that forms part of Aspire Zone’s wider Ramadan Festival, offers people across Qatar access to some great sporting events during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
This year’s RSF will continue over the course of two weeks and will kick-off with men’s tournaments such as football and basketball, ladies’ tournaments including tennis, and an Aspire employee Futsal tournament. A wide number of community members will also take part in a walking competition around Aspire Dome.
The football tournament will kick off on the Aspire Zone Warm Up Track with an exciting match between team Aspetar and team Nigeria, which will be followed by a match between Al Shabab and Galaticos.
Other matches will continue for another six days until the final stages of the competition on June 16 and 17. The tournament will witness the participation of 12 teams with 15 players per team.
The opening day of RSF will also witness the launch of the basketball tournament in the multipurpose hall of Aspire Dome with the participation of 12 teams with eight players per team that will compete over five days.
The opening match will start at 9.30pm between Doha Ballers and the Syrian team, while the Oryx team will face the Doha Elite Fig in the second match of the evening at 10.00pm. The matches will continue until the final stages of the tournament around the June 15.
In terms of individual sports, the opening day of RSF will witness the launch of the Ladies Tennis Tournament, taking place from tomorrow untill Sunday in Aspire Zone’s outdoor tennis courts over two categories including adult females and junior females.
The beach soccer tournament, which is taking place on Aspire Zone’s outdoor sand pitch will begin on June 14. The opening day will include four matches, which will kick-off in an exciting face-off between team Morocco and team Carrefour, followed by a match between team Alfteam and team Ghrthage, another between Moureack and Sunrise, and concluding with a match between Adagio and Alfrsan. The finals will take place on June 18.
This year’s junior futsal tournament this year will launch on June 20 and include the participation of 12 teams which will battle it out for the tournament title.
The first day will witness the participation of eight teams, where team Brazil will face team Samba, while Alasateer team will face off the Legends team. This will be followed by a match between the Golden team and team Bayern, and the evening will conclude in a highly-anticipated match between team Barcelona and team San Siro.
The tournament will take place over five days and conclude on June 24.
The Ladies Volleyball Tournament will include the participation of 11 teams, which will compete from June 20 in Aspire Dome. The tournament will begin with a highly anticipated match between Hyperspikers and Charms, followed by a face-off between QPM and Ballbusters.
The tournament will conclude on June 24. The Aspire Zone Warm Up Track will also host the first Cricket Tournament starting from June 21 for two days.
Six teams will participate in the tournament, with the opening day set to witness a match between Aspire Devils and Aspire Cricket Club, followed by a match between Spartans and Otkilika.The Peninsula
