Qatar Chamber reviews boosting commercial relations with British Minister

Doha: Qatar Chamber’s Second Vice-Chairman Rashed bin Hamad Al Athba met yesterday with H E Ranil Jayawardena, UK Minister for International Trade, and the accompanying delegation currently visiting the country.

During the meeting, officials touched on the commercial and investment relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them, especially in the level of private sector.

Speaking at the meeting, Al Athba reviewed the QC’s role in boosting cooperation relations between Qatari and British businessmen and companies and stimulating business sectors to establish commercial alliances and partnership.

He praised the close commercial relations between both countries, noting that their bilateral trade amounted to £3.7bn in 2021 compared to £2.4bn in 2020, recording an increase of 50 percent. For his part, the British Minister lauded the distinct relations between both countries, especially in the economic and trade fields, pointing out that he is looking forward to achieving more cooperation between the business sectors of the two countries.

Jayawardena also called on Qatari businessmen to invest in the UK, indicating that it offers many investment incentives, especially in the long term.
